Article Abstract: Texas foreclosure filings continue to rise despite national decrease.  According to one report, Texas foreclosure auction homes have increase by 18 percent since the same period last year.  Based on the Texas foreclosure filings from the prior month, foreclosures increased by 22 percent. The number of North Texas homes in foreclosure and slated for auction in August is up 18 percent when compared to last year, according to a new report from Foreclosure Listing Service Inc.

The Addison-based real estate company says 4,852 North Texas homes are in foreclosure and slated for auction next month, compared to 3,870 homes during the same period last year.

On a month-to-month basis, foreclosure postings also rose 22 percent over last month when North Texas had 3,747 homes headed for the auction block.

Some of the decline in foreclosures during the previous month is attributed to slowing filing traffic caused by the July 4 holiday.

Despite foreclosures rising on a year-to-year basis, the Foreclosure Listing Service says foreclosure postings for this period and for last month remain much lower than the record set in February when 5,315 foreclosure postings were filed.
